Designed to have a square frame, a playing surface, pockets, and much more, the carrom boars is typically made of using two different types of wood. The frame is made up of wood whereas plywood is used for making the playing surface.
Frame
The frame has four corners. Its width should be anywhere from 3 inches to 5 inches.The thickness of the playing surface must be 1.90 to 2.54 centimeters - which is about an inch thickness.
Playing Surface
In general, the playing surface should be smooth, 73.50 cm – 74 cm square at least 8mm thick. The leaving 0.75 inch should be there on each side to fasten with screws to the bottom of the frame.
Pockets
There’re pockets on all the four corners that round inwardly and 4.45 cm in diameter. According to experts, the baselines on all four sides of a playing surface should be 47 cm long, black in color.
Arrows & Centre Circle
Arrows and center circle should be at a 45-degree angle. They should be available in all four corners of the board. They should not be more than .15 cm thick. Centre circle is drawn exactly in the center of the board. It is 3.18 cm in diameter and red in color. One circle on the playing surface is 17 cm in diameter using the center point of the board as its center. It is black in color.
Coins
Coins are also called, carrom men, pieces or men. They have the same size and should lay completely flat on the playing surface. They come in three different colors, white, black and red. Carrom men should be circular in shape and made of quality wood. Their diameter should be 3.02 cm – 3.18 cm, the thickness should be .70 cm – .90 cm, edges should be round and plain, and weight should be 5.00g – 5.50g. They include 9 white pieces, 9 black pieces, 1 red piece.
Strikers
Carrom Strikers are heavier pieces. They are designed in a way that can be flicked with the finger for hitting the coins across the board while playing the game. The strikers should be round and smooth, the diameter shouldn’t be more than 4.13 cm, and weight shouldn’t be more than 15g. Strikers are made of the material, but not metal.
